Flute Catalog
The flutes shown below are a representative sampling of what I make and currently have available. Each flute is carefully tuned to both mode 1 and mode 4 of the pentatonic scale. Regardless of key, the playing holes are spaced the same distance apart which makes them easy to play and to switch from flutes of one key to another. Most of my flutes are one-of-a-kind and wood has so many variations, it is difficult to have two flutes be exactly alike. That being said, if you see a flute that you like and it is marked SOLD, I can make one similar for you. Either go to my Contact Us page and email me with the flute number, or click on the Add To Cart button. When I get the order, i'll know the flute is sold and I will make one as similar as possible. Allow about two weeks for shipment.
Should you prefer a particular flute but in a different wood than the one shown, I can make it for you. However, I have found that when I begin making a flute, the final shape and key are often somewhat different than what I had in mind. You might say that the spirit of the wood has a mind of its own. Also, a flute might have a specific "caretaker" in mind, something that is not revealed until that person is guided to my site and contacts me. Please allow three to four weeks for special orders.
Over the years I have been making flutes, I have found it best to talk with a perspective flute "caretaker" before finalizing an order and I still like to do that. However, I have also found that getting back to people can be cumbersome, so I have added a shopping cart and a secure payment system. You can still contact me directly by visiting the "contact us" page, or you can use the shopping cart and pay via a credit card through Paypal. Either way, your information remains safe and secure.
Payment options
To order a flute, please choose one of the following options.
1. Simply click on the "add to cart" button next to the desired flute and follow the steps to pay using Paypal. (Best way)
2. Jot down the flute number and description, go to the "contact us" page and fill out the requested information. I will then contact you at your specified time and we can finalize the order.
3. Try contacting me via phone at (603) 968-2171. You will probably have to leave a message, as this is the home phone. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
4. Order by mail, including a check made out to Raven Song Flutes, a money order or credit card number. I only accept Visa and Mastercard. Include the card number, expiration date and the three digit security code on the back of the card next to the signature block. Also the name of the person on the card. Be sure to include the flute number and a brief description from this site. Also include a phone number I can reach you at if necessary. Send it to: Gerry Ouellette, Raven Song Flutes, P. O. All flutes come with a fleece bag. Should you desire a leather bag, I recommend you use the fleece bag as an inner liner to prevent oils from the leather from damaging the finish on your flute.

With a few exceptions, these flutes are all new to the site. Each has been very well crafted and has benn carefully tuned to both Mode 1 and Mode 4 Pentatonic.

Children's flutes.
These flutes are made of either Western Red Cedar or Aromatic Cedar. All flutes are in the key of G. Each is tuned to both mode 1 and mode 4 pentatonic. The playing holes are placed a little closer together for small hands. These flutes do not come with a bag.

Plain Flutes, Eastern Red Cedar
These flutes are made of Aromatic Cedar and are available in the Keys of A, G, F#, F and E. They are crafted in the same careful manner as the decorated flutes but are intended for individuals who desire less decoration while still getting top of the line craftsmanship and excellent sound quality.

Plain Flutes, Spalted Maple
These flutes are made exactly like the Eastern Red Cedar Plain flutes but are made from Spalted Sugar Maple. Spalting is the very beginning of the rotting process, however, the wood is still solid. Black line appear in the wood giving it a unique appearance. Each flute is different, but all have the black lines. The flutes pictures are for display purposes only. These flutes are made with the same care as more expensive flutes and have excellent sound.

Decorated Flutes
These flutes are really beautiful and they sound as good as they look. Made of a variety of woods from the North Eastern part of the United States, they have real wood inlay as well as being ringed with powdered stone mixed with epoxy. Some of the stone powder has been dyed to give it brighter color. The result is some very beautiful flutes.

Laminated Flutes
I consider myself a pretty humble person, but these flutes are really beautiful, and they sound as good as they look. Each flute has at least four different woods. Some of the woods are from Central America, like Red Heart, Yellow Heart and Purple Heart. There is also some American Holly which is the whitest wood known. The effect is really striking. If you are looking to step up a grade in your next flute, try one of these, You will be happy with it. I have made fourteen of these flutes and no two are the same.

Seven Arrows Flutes
These flutes are truly special. They have wood inlay and are decorated with seven rings representing the Seven Arrows. The broad band of Turquoise at the mouth end of the flute represents the Creator. The blue band represents The Above and the green band the Below. At the other end of the flute are the Four Directions represented by White for North, Red for East, Black for West and Yellow for South. These are also the four colors of man. The craftsmanship is excellent and the sound is incredible.
